Richard and Mary Jane Hall

Richard Hall was brought up at Cock Hall Farm, Thurnham.
He married Mary Jane Taylor, in September 1890, at Lunesdale.
They then farmed at Bierworth Farm, Bonds, Garstang.
In 1894 they moved to Highfield Farm, East Rd, Lancaster. (This was opposite Williamson's Park, which does not exist now)

Mary Jane was the daughter of Stephen and Isabella Taylor. She was brought up at Ivar Farm and Cringleber Farm.  Eventually Ivar Farm was given to son James and Cringleber Farm to Mary Jane.
The family moved to Torrisholme Hall Farm, in 1903.

This was situated adjacent to Torisholme Square, which was in the centre of Torisholme village.

Richard Hall was Mayor of Morecambe, with his daughter Dorothy as Mayoress.   (His wife, Mary Jane, would not take on any mayoral duties as she was a baptised Jehovah's Witness.)
During that time Hall Drive and Hall Park, in Torrisholme, was named after him.

The Mayor of Morecambe Richard's wife declined to be Mayoress, so his daughter Dorothy agreed to be Mayoress.
