Welcome to our site
It is hoped that this site serves to satisfy a curiosity for knowledge, and understanding, of our family ancestors and their achievements.
A focus is on that part of my Mackereth sub-family related to Richard Mackereth, born in New Hutton on 13 Feb 1820, and who lived at Waterside Farm for 35 years or so, through his son Richard Thomas.
Richard's descendants who lived and worked at Waterside are covered in the section entitled "The Family at Waterside";
There is a tendency to concentrate on the Mackereth name. In order to rectify this "Other Connected Families" has been included to identify those connected via the female line. Similarly "Maternal Ancestors" has been added to add some detail as to the maternal side of the families.
Over time, the site has grown significantly, so in order to assist visitors, who may not be au fait with the family relationships, a Family Index has been included
Whilst the site will probably always be a work in progress, without the enthusiasm and drive of Maurice Mackereth we could not have got to this point.
This, public, portion is an historical description and no information relating to persons still living is included.
All contributions of memories, pictures, etc. and of course corrections, are welcomed.
Should you use any of this site elsewhere a note would be appreciated, partly through curiosity and partly because we would like to learn from you.
Ian Mackereth
